FTW: GREENWICH CHEESE AND SAUSAGE OVERLOAD

Today is therapy day--time for my much-awaited bi-monthly trip to the grocery. I always love going to the grocery because it allows me a lot of ME time. My grocery trips are usually long, with visits to each aisle, very deliberate. I love the fact that I am able to compare products, see what's new, experience product samples, and get a load of anything and everything that has to do with the power of choice. I just love, love, love the grocery.

My trip today was no exception (which, as usual, broke the bank, huhuhu!). I got the monthly stash of junkfood, replenished our toiletries, including the requisite hair loss products for the Haligilet's yaya, and updated the stocks in our pantry, freezer and crisper. It was a very, very productive trip.

Icing on the cake is that I was able to try the new Greenwich Xtreme overloaded pizzas which contains 7 kinds of meats and cheeses. Delish!

PACKS THAT DON'T BREAK THE BACK, NOR THE BANK

I never thought heavy duty backpacks could cost so much. You see, given the number of trips I would be making to the countryside, I now feel (yes, at age thirty-something), that owning a backpack is essential.

I initially wanted to purchase one of those backpack models of Samsonite luggage, or Jansport, or Northface, but my jaw dropped at the prices especially since my backpack requirement was no-frills and uncomplicated. Luckily I found a great alternative--Columbia...At just P2,170.00, these can hold up to 33 liters worth of "cargo". Best of all, their wild card promo allows you to purchase two backpacks for the price of one. Which I did--yesterday. :D Offer good while supply lasts.

FIT FOR LESS

One of our ad agency contacts said that a recent L-Carnitine study revealed that people who drank it sans extreme physical activity lost more than those who drank it to complement exercise. So I guess you can conclude that I have been really inspired by this tiny bit of information. Buh-bye weight loss pills! Hehehe.

Apart from Fit N' Right, which costs P20.00-P25.00 for a 250 ml bottle, the Haligi and I have also been drinking this...That's only P17.50 per liter or P4.38 per 250-ml container. Better, fitter deal!

YEAH INDIGO BABY, YEAH!

A new baby in the family over four years since the last one arrived is just like starting from scratch. And so my sister, who just gave birth last April, welcomes the parenting resources available online to give us all that much needed refresher course.

While we've already given a lukewarm reception to the thought of sleepless nights, nappy changes, feeding cycles, and what have you, my sister and I do look forward to shopping for new stuff for the baby.

INDIGOBaby, that one-stop-shop of anything and everything related to babies, is truly heaven sent, contains all the life-saving baby products one can think of--baby pouches, nursing supplies, all natural bathing products and many more. It would be great too if they would include sleeping supplies, like that essential maternity wedge pillow featured in AllegroMedical.com, that could do wonders for the pregnant mom.

So fret not, new or veteran mom! INDIGOBaby is the answer to your prayers.

OH HANA!

Hana, which is Japanese for “flower”, is an izayaki diner located at Little Tokyo, one of the few places in the metropolis where you can enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine in an equally authentic and delightful Japanese setting. It is located along Pasong Tamo, next to the Makati Cinema Square, with its entrance marked only by a Japanese Torii gate.

Hana can only house up to a maximum of twenty five people at a time, but despite the restriction, this cozy Japanese diner more than makes up for it with its authentic, mouth-watering dishes, pleasant atmosphere and homey Eastern ambience.

Let these pictures do the talking...Hana

MUCH ADO ABOUT CHARLIE'S

Before you go off to any of those beach vacation rentals this coming break, you may want to considering visiting one of the most talked about eating places ever to hit Pasig City. Tucked behind a car wash in Kapitlyo, Pasig is Charlie's Grill, a no-frills burger joint famous for its mouth-watering Angus burgers and Wagyu cheese steaks. Noteworthy as well is the availability of different imported brews to help carnivores wash down those meat delights. The Angus Beef Burger, one of its bestsellers, is served on a petite wicker basket with cheese and fresh greens, and a siding of freshly cooked wedge fries (complete with the potato peels, just the way we like 'em). A clear winner! Fresh from our Malcolm Wagyu cheese steak experience, we made it a point to take bite of the Charlie's version, which is a 180-degree departure from the Malcolm ensemble. But, even if the Charlie's take lacked in food styling, it more than made up for it in taste, and HOW! A serving of Batangas AAA Sirloin with caramelized onions, sauteed peppers, topped with velvety cheese sauce and served with smoky ranchero sauce, this was HOLY COW (pun intended), mind-blowing!!! We also tried the Buffalo Wings, which consisted of six pieces of chicken wings and came bundled with with blue cheese dip and veggie sticks. With the right amount of tartness and kick, the dish is comparable to my other BW fave--the Chili's version. For the Haligilet, we ordered the Meatball's Marinara. The meatballs, probably taken from the Angus burger blend, were tasty. We found the pasta sauce a tad too sour though. This was the only letdown of our Charlie's experience. Needless to say, save for the marinara meltdown, our overall dining experience at Charlie's, R.O.C.K.E.D! The Haligilet's slurp captured in this photo says it all...We would surely be back for more meaTERRIFIC dining experiences at Charlie's!
